As former members of one of the most highly respected police agencies in the world, the NYPD, the ARES Tactics team is uniquely qualified to give both civilians and law enforcement the tools and techniques they need to deal with danger—however and whenever it comes.

ARES Tactics has a lengthy track record encompassing training and instruction that deals with situations where people interact. Classes focus on a full range of subjects specifically customized for Law Enforcement, Schools, Houses of Worship, Community Groups, Tenant Organizations and Corporations.

Police Training Daniel ModellDaniel Modell

Chief Executive Officer, Ares Tactics, is a 20-year veteran of the NYPD who served in the rank of Lieutenant.

He is also an adjunct Professor at the State University of New York-FIT where he established and administered its self-defense program. Danny has served as Training Coordinator of the Firearms and Tactics Section, in which capacity he developed and revised street operational curricula for tenured and recruit officers.

He also served for a number of years as Commanding Officer of the NYPD’s Tactical Training Unit, teaching thousands of Police Officers how to navigate the dynamics of violent encounters, and developing curricula tailored to answer emerging trends of concern to the nation’s largest Police Department. During his time in the Tactical Training Unit, he co-authored the first approved series of lectures on the “Active Killer” phenomenon delivered to both uniformed and civilian members of the NYPD.

Danny also developed lessons and lectured on “Tactical Mindset” and the connection between Use of Force Case Law and Decision-Making. He also has completed a certification in Force Science Analysis with Dr. Bill Lewinski, Force Science Research Center.

He is a certified Department of Criminal Justice Services Instructor, New York State, Firearms, Defensive Tactics, Aerosol Subject Restraint and General Topics. He is author of “The Psychology of the Active Killer.”

Also, Danny is the author of the book "The Warrior's Manifesto: Ideals for Those Who Protect and Defend."

Police Training Russell JungRussell Jung

Chief Executive Officer, Ares Tactics, retired in the rank of Sergeant after serving 24 years with the NYPD.

He has served as Training Supervisor, Firearms and Tactics Section, where he developed and revised street operational curricula for both tenured and recruit officers.

For a number of years, he was a Supervisor in the NYPD's Tactical Training Unit. During which, he co-authored the first approved series of lectures on the “Active Killer” phenomenon delivered to both uniformed and civilian members of the NYPD. He also developed lessons and lectured on “Tactical Mindset,” transitioning through force options and performance under stress.

Russell finished his career as Training Coordinator/ Supervisor for the Strategic Response Group under the Disorder Control Unit of the NYPD. In that capacity, he inaugurated the Tactical Training Officer Program, designed to identify and develop instructors assigned to commands falling within the Strategic Response Group (SRG) throughout New York City. He also implemented a series of tactical operator courses sequenced to prepare over eight hundred members of SRG in close quarter combat. Finally, Russell launched interagency training in collaboration with the New York City Fire Department Academy staff.

Russell has completed a certification in Force Science Analysis with Dr. Bill Lewinski, Force Science Research Center. He is also a certified Department of Criminal Justice Services Instructor, New York State, Firearms, Defensive Tactics, Aerosol Subject Restraint and General Topics. He fought for the NYPD Boxing Team around the world. Russell earned a Master of Arts Degree in Homeland Security. He also served proudly in the United States Army.
